Max Lindez Begins Pilot Training at Legoland in Billund, Denmark. |

Several
members of the military deployed to Denmark to
participate in a NATO wide exercise last week. Training took place
at the Legoland
theme park in Billund, Denmark which boasts a facility built of
over 50 million Lego bricks and over 50 training activities, sure
to accommodate the needs of the 19 countries which make up the
North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Legoland
director of training, Hans Larsen, is extremely proud to host this
summer's festivities. "When this facility was being built we were
the laughing stock of Western Europe. The shareholders nearly took
away our funding and threw the whole thing down the toilet. If we
didn't feel like we always had to outdo Germany, this engineering
marvel which has brought joy to millions would never have materialized," replied Larsen.

In
addition to fixed wing aircraft, Legoland also has a
strong experimental aircraft program. |

Instructor
Pilot Lars Hansen was very impressed with the American's "can-do"
approach to completing the training at hand. "I would especially like to
give props to Max Lindez for his exceptional ability to
grasp the technical nature of the job at hand with very minimal supervision. We
were warned about him by the Guatemalans prior to his arrival but he did
everything he needed to do in order to complete the initial phase of his
training. As soon as he entered the training aircraft he put the safety bar
across his lap which is more than we had hoped for," smirked Hansen.
"Participating
in an exercise of this caliber is very rewarding, makes me feel good that I'm a
guardian of world peace," says Lindez, and adds, "It's a rush like you
can't possibly imagine. I thought the highlight of my life was trying out for
the part of the little kid in The
Shining when I was
seven. This totally blows that away." The
program is very time consuming but the participants were offered some liberty
during the two week training excercise. Denmark regulations do not allow flying
in the evenings or on weekend so the troops are free to experience the other
attractions and training facilities the park offers such as Legoland®
Traffic School, Duplo® Play Houses, and the Lego®
Mindstorms™ Centre.
